Paper Roll Slitting & Rewinding Machine

In the deep-processing of paper products such as wallpaper, gift wrap, and advertising paper, many manufacturers work with large-diameter raw paper rolls. These bulky rolls are heavy and space-consuming; they cannot be sold directly or turned into finished goods without further processing. They must first be slit, cut to precise lengths, and rewound into uniformly sized small rolls before they can move to the next stage. The paper roll slitting and rewinding machine is an automated piece of equipment built specifically for this task. The shaft diameter can be adjusted freely or customised to match the customer's core size. The maximum rewinding diameter reaches 220 mm, and the tension remains constant and well-balanced throughout the process. The finished rolls are tightly wound, with flat, neat end faces – free from wrinkles, looseness, side-shifting, or uneven thickness. They come out as quality products that need no secondary edge trimming.

The control system uses a mature PLC paired with a Weilun touch screen. Parameter settings are simple and intuitive, so even new operators can get up to speed quickly. Built-in features include high-precision automatic length counting, preset-length stop, and leftover-material warning – eliminating manual measurement errors and ensuring high dimensional accuracy in slitting and rewinding. The servo main motor, combined with a professional magnetic-powder tension control system, provides smooth starts and stops as well as stepless speed adjustment. The maximum operating speed is 200 metres per minute, and even at high speed the machine effectively prevents paper tearing, stretching, or wrinkling. Material waste is reduced, and the finished-product yield is significantly improved.

The cutting unit employs a rodless-cylinder reciprocating flying-knife design, producing clean, smooth cuts without burrs. Every finished roll has a neat, tidy edge. The entire process – from unwinding, tension adjustment, precision rewinding, length measurement, to automatic cutting – is fully automated, requiring minimal manual intervention. If a fully automatic shrink-wrapping machine is connected downstream, the two units form an integrated processing and packaging line with seamless handover between stages, further boosting overall workshop productivity.
