This polyester film slitting machine is essentially a "precision tailor" made specifically for PET film. Its job is to take extra-wide PET master rolls and slit them lengthwise into several narrower finished rolls. Because PET film is quite "stubborn" by nature-high strength, prone to static electricity, and with slight thermal shrinkage-the cutting must be extremely precise. The cuts need to be clean and the film must not be stretched or deformed during the process. It is the go-to machine for processing materials like packaging film, electronic insulation materials, photovoltaic panels, optical film, and the films used in lithium batteries that we see in everyday applications.
The Core Composition System
Unwinding Unit: This is where the large PET master roll is mounted. It comes standard with an air shaft for easy securing, and is equipped with a CCD automatic edge correction system that continuously monitors the film's edge or printed guide lines to ensure the film stays perfectly aligned and doesn't wander off track.
Tension Control: The unwinding tension is very stable, utilizing either a magnetic particle brake or a servo motor closed-loop control system to maintain constant tension output at all times, avoiding any sudden looseness or tightness.
Loading Method: For particularly large and heavy rolls, an optional hydraulic shaftless loading system is available, allowing a single operator to change rolls easily and effortlessly-saving a lot of labor.
The cutting table unit (core): For PET films, there are three common cutting methods; select the appropriate model based on the film thickness:
Up-and-down circular roller shearing (most commonly used): produces minimal trimming burrs, making it suitable for high-speed production; the blade gap can be finely adjusted to the micrometer level.
Straight blade cutting: suitable for ultra-thin PET (650 μm) and optical films; produces a flat cut surface with no white edges.
Air knife: Suitable for coated PET protective films; does not damage the coating. Equipped with a side material fan for waste discharge and an automatic suction system for removing slitting waste edges.
Rewinding Unit: This machine adopts dual-shaft alternating rewinding. For PET film slitting, air-expansion shafts or slip shafts are supplied as standard configuration. The slip shaft is particularly critical. It can automatically compensate for minor diameter differences of each roll, ensuring uniform tightness of finished rolls. This avoids inconsistent tension across rolls, uneven end faces, and "hard creases" caused by excessive pulling force on the film. It also supports tapered tension control. Simply put, as the roll diameter increases, the machine automatically reduces the tension slightly to prevent deformation of inner film layers.
Control System: Equipped with PLC and touch-screen, it features an intuitive operation interface. Process parameters for different products can be saved as "recipes". When switching materials, you can recall parameters with one click without repeated adjustments. The machine is also built-in with automatic meter-counting, auto-stop at preset length, fault alarm and other functions, delivering stable and trouble-free operation.
Auxiliary Functions: Polyester film slitting machine tends to generate static electricity at high-speed running, so static elimination bars are standard fitted. Static removal prevents dust adhesion and film sticking. The intelligent pressure-roller system automatically adjusts pressure according to roll diameter to exhaust air between film layers, avoiding bubbles and wrinkles on finished rolls. In addition, optional accessories including negative-pressure dust collector, splicing table and automatic unloading device are available to simplify finishing operations.
